Injectable facial implant
What is Radiesse (Radiance)?
Radiesse is the name for a patented injectable soft tissue filler that is approved for use in cosmetic
dermatology. It is becoming the most popular liquid injectable filling substance in the United
States. It lasts from 3 to 8 years...that is 10-15 times longer than collagen (Cosmoplast)
and 5-10 times longer than Restylane and Juvaderm!
What is Radiesse used for?
It is used to fill in moderate to severe lines grooves, and wrinkles around the mouth. It
works especially well for the nasolabial folds (the groove that runs from either
side of the nose to the corners of the mouth) and for melolabial folds (the groove that runs
from each corner of the mouth to the chin). It can also be used in the mid-cheek area to
correct creases or depressions.
Radiesse is not indicated for use in the lips or in fine lines, as lumping can result in this area. Restylane,
Juvaderm, Zyplast, or Evolence can be used for the lips and finer lines.
How safe is Radiesse?
Radiesse has been used for many years in urology and laryngology. It has been safely injected into
approximately 1 million individuals world-wide. Radiesse is made synthetically here in the United
States under strict FDA guidelines. Radiesse consists of hydroxylapatite, a substance that is
naturally found in the human body. There is no risk of allergy with Radiesse. It contains no
plastic material. No part of the liquid is from animal or human sources.
